Q
We have received listed building consent to replace the unsuitable hard cement render on our cottage in Suffolk with a lime-based mix and to incorporate some decorative pargetting. Whilst pargetting is a characteristic feature of this part of the country, we’re having diffi culty finding a suitable specialist. Can you provide us with the names of any pargetters, please?

A Good craftspeople still do exist who can carry out pargetting but, as you have found out, are few and far between. I would suggest you contact one of the following: Anna Kettle (01359 230642), Bill Sargent (01359 271779), or Steve Welsh (01986 784740)

A MOST UNUSUAL CHRISTMAS PRESENT.
Q
My parents live in a Victorian terraced house in London. My father has recently retired and plans to spend some of his time in the near future working on the house, which my parents only moved into last year and was previously somewhat neglected. I was thinking of treating him to a place on a suitable course as a Christmas present and wondered if you knew of anything suitable?

A The SPAB is to hold its fi rst ever course specifically for owners of terraced houses. This is designed to offer essential advice and guidance on the key issues affecting these buildings and will run.
